Adjustable needle roller bearings are special bearing designs that have been developed to compensate for axial adjustments or preloads in bearings. These bearings offer the possibility to adjust the axial position of the bearing components to a certain degree in order to ensure optimal performance and service life in various applications.

Adjustable needle roller bearings consist of various components, including outer sleeves, plastic support rings with a concave inner shape, outer rings with a spherical outer surface, needle roller cages, and removable inner rings. The raceway ring has a spherically shaped outer surface. During assembly, the plastic support rings, which are placed between the raceway ring and the steel outer sleeve, compensate for alignment errors between the shaft and housing. It is important to note that adjustable needle roller bearings are not suitable for accommodating tilt or swivel movements.

Adjustable needle roller bearings can also be mounted without an inner ring. However, a prerequisite for this is that the shaft has a hardened and ground raceway. If this is not the case, the bearing must be used together with the inner ring.
