There are a variety of shapes and designs of flange bearing units, including two-hole, three-hole, and four-hole housings as well as housings in round, oval, triangular, and square shapes. These housings are mainly made of materials such as cast iron, steel castings, ductile iron, or sheet steel and often have lubrication bores to allow for easy and quick maintenance.
Most bearings in the flange bearing housings can be adjusted by a few degrees to compensate for alignment errors. Although the insert bearing is most commonly found in flange bearing housings, angular contact ball bearings, self-aligning ball bearings, spherical roller bearings, and self-aligning roller bearings can also be used in the appropriately suitable flange bearing housings.
Usually, defective insert bearings can be replaced without having to replace the existing housing. However, the prerequisite is that the housing itself does not have any damage.
